THE SEA, THE BEACHES AND THE COVES

There are 41 km of coastline on the island and they are very jagged with tuffaceous rocks, with inlets, coves and stacks. Leaving the port on the right are the Pilate Caves from the Roman era. Immediately after the Faraglioni della Madonna. The southern tip of the island is Il Faro della Guardia. A little further on there is the famous beach of Chiaia di Luna. Continuing there is Capo Bianco famous for its tunnel. Further on there is the splendid beach of Lucia Rosa famous for its sunsets. Immediately after there is the bay of Cala Feola with the Piscine Naturali accessible on foot. Another place not to be missed is Cala Fonte in the northern part of the island. At the northern tip of the island there is the islet of Gavi. Returning towards the port, one of the most beautiful beaches is that of the Arco Naturale. Immediately after there is Cala Inferno with the Core beach next to it, famous for its heart drawn into the rock. Before reaching the Port there is the Frontone beach equipped with umbrellas and deck chairs and easily reachable by boats that carry out the service with the beach.

INTERNAL WAYS AND MEANS OF COMMUNICATION

In Ponza there is a paved road that connects Porto and S. Maria with Le Forna, with a regular bus service. It is also possible to rent cars and scooters. In summer, the circulation of holidaymakers’ cars is prohibited.

WHAT TO EAT

The characteristic dishes of Ponza are mainly based on fish. Do not miss the lobster, spider crab, grouper, red snapper, amberjack, swordfish.
